Same problem here on i386. This bug should be marked confirmed.
The warning "** (zapping:5725): WARNING **: GConf key '/apps/zapping/plugins/deinterlace/method' is unset and has no default. Schemas incomplete or not installed?" has nothing to do with it though. Setting that gconf key by hand makes the warning disappear but the program still will crash.
With me, it only crashes when trying to enter the Preferences or Channels:
(zapping:27226): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_get_value: assertion `VALID_ITE R (iter, GTK_LIST_STORE(tree_model))' failed
(zapping:27226): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gtype.c:3f312: type id `0' is invalid
(zapping:27226): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: can't peek value table for type `<inva lid>' which is not currently referenced
