Bug Description

Binary package hint: seahorse

Open 'System -> Preferences -> Encryption and Keyrings' and the application is labelled as 'Password and Encryption Settings', which is a little confusing.

Hi, thanks for reporting your bug. I agree with you that this is a bit confusing it would make sense to use the same title for both.

I would also like to add that for new users especially it is not immediately clear the difference between the above mentioned 'System -> Preferences -> Encryption and Keyrings' and 'applications->accessories->Passwords and Encryption Keys'.

By the way this is on intrepid though I think the menu/window names have not changed in a release or two.

Hi Elias,

Yes - the difference between 'Encryption and Keyrings' and 'Passwords and Encryption Keys' is not at all clear - or why they are separate. The labelling adds to the confusion. I've been struggling to work out how it all hangs together - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=957569

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention this is in 8.10.

Thanks for your reply.

I filed a second bug upstream to have these two merged together rather than simple renamed. This was the suggestion if desired that was omitted from the quote of adam schreiber's comment above ("Tommi, if you really want to open a separate bug for that second thought").

I don't see a simple way to add a second seahorse bug link so here it is http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=574961

Also the status of the Gnome bug is not being updated. Launchpade says its confirmed on Gnome it is fixed.
